Petersburg in October

Today was a typical Petersburg day ~ light drizzle and low visibility. Being at the Clausen Museum gave me a chance to capture the mural as well as the entryway.

I couldn't resist this outdoor display in a yard close to the hospital!

On the way home we caught sight of this:

There has been a gamut of political commentary concerning our local government for the last year in the news~ from recall petitions for city counselors to law suits for defamation of character and spying ~ all in our lovely little city! This scarecrow is in honor of Sue Flint who is running for council with tongue in cheek. Yep...it's displayed on Wrangell Avenue by one of her good friends!

Not so controversial~this tree is in the Knight's yard at the top of the hill.

This is the tree Colleen dug up in Eileen's back yard in Brockton, Ma over 29 years ago...it was carted back in her carry-on bag after John, Carol, and Colleen visited the East Coast. It was transplanted out of Colleen's yard where she wasn't happy with its growth and into the bank of our gully. It has grown up and out, but not very wide in the trunk. We have enjoyed it's color now that it is visible...why did I plant it so far down?!
